Policeman was saved thanks to COMARSA aerial rescue

At least fifteen police officers were injured after a troop carrier truck overturned while returning to the police base. The accident took place two hours from Huamachuco's location when the police officers were relieved after the service guard they had provided during the strike summoned by the CGTP.

In circumstances that are not yet known, the police troop carrier truck gave several turns, causing serious injuries to the Sub-officer Fabio Rafael Huaranga Condori, he had lost consciousness and suffered internal loss of blood hemorrhages that produced him blood vomits.

The quick collaboration of COMARSA mining company saved his life.

After the help request made by the head of Huamachuco's command, COMARSA's management arranged that for the rescue, a light aircraft take off from the city of Trujillo. It was avoided a delay of at least 12 hours in the air evacuation rescue. The sub-officer Huaranga is being attended in Trujillo Regional Hospital and his diagnosis is reserved, while the remaining police officers are already under control and in process of recovery.

Representantes de la empresa minera Comarsa se sumaron a la ayuda ofrecida por la Ministra de la Mujer, Susana Pinilla, haciendo público el compromiso de la empresa de solventar los gastos de educación escolar completa de la niña que quedó huérfana durante el paro de la CGTP.

Según denunció el Presidente del Consejo de Ministros, Jorge del Castillo, Lucy de la Cruz Otiniano murió a bordo de una ambulancia mientras era trasladada de emergencia al hospital de Santiago de Chuco al que no pudo llegar por un piquete de manifestantes que impidió su paso. La joven madre murió en las labores de parto. Afortunadamente su pequeña hija se encuentra en buen estado de salud.

A primeras horas de hoy, la ministra de la mujer viajó a Trujillo y luego en helicóptero a la localidad de Angasmarca para ofrecer el apoyo del gobierno en los gastos de sepelio. Por su parte, la empresa Comarsa se comprometió en velar por la niña mientras ésta se encuentre en edad escolar, solventando los gastos escolares completos.

Segundo de la Cruz y Matilde Otiniano, padres de la víctima, agradecieron la solidaridad de la comunidad, el gobierno y la empresa privada.

In this regard, we have a plan of community development which is executed every year.

Such a program will allow the establishment of enough contacts and relationships with populations of interest groups, organizations of local basis, municipalities, associations, district clubs, unions and others, as well as diverse public and private institutions, in order to establish and formalize the channels of communication and the transmission of information concerning the progress and results of the execution of projects with social interest.

Moreover, we have “La Hora COMARSA” which is a radio station program broadcasted in Angasmarca.  During this radio program talks to the populations of both the town and its farm houses are broadcasted to inform about the different help and work carried out by COMARSA for the community’s wellbeing.

Our Social Service workers carry out permanent visits to the farm houses and communities influenced by the mine in order to:
 

• Create and reinforce the understanding among the company, authorities and the population of the towns (farm houses, communities) to strengthen the positive impacts and mitigate the negative ones.
• Participation of the communities’ representatives in workshops on air and water quality monitoring.
• Ensure that the identified issues are being resolved and handled within an atmosphere of cordiality and harmony.
• We also carry out workshops of participative planning with the mothers of the farm houses surrounding the mine.
